Objectives
General
The Social Science Research Center aims to develop and cultivate a research culture among the CAS Social Science Departments and thereby meaningfully contribute to the fund of academic knowledge especially as such relate to the improvement of curricular offerings and influencing development and policy directions in Cebu and Region VII.
Specific
The Social Science Research Center aims to:
capacitate faculty in carrying out independent research through the implementation of training programs relevant to the needs of specific disciplines
enhance the depth and scope of studies done by faculty by encouraging inter-disciplinary collaboration across CAS departments
increase the pool of competent CAS faculty researchers by providing opportunities for guided learning by senior faculty researchers
make research studies available to end-users by providing avenues for dissemination, e.g., publications or fora
improve the quality and relevance of theses and dissertations by providing research directions, advice, or guidance to graduate students
secure more opportunities for outside funding by establishing linkages and networks with institutions and industries
facilitate the conduct of research studies by providing structures that liberate researchers from the chore of administrative concerns and thus allow them to focus on the study at hand.
