USC Zonal Research Program
USC ZRC is tasked to formulate and implement a Zonal Research Program (ZRP) that
- is reflective of and responsive to the development needs and objectives of the Zone (Cebu and Bohol)
- defines the thrust, objectives and expected outputs of research activities in the Zone for the three-year period 2004 – 2006
- identifies specifically the research projects and activities to be funded by CHED, taking into consideration the funding thrusts of the various funding agencies
- is doable in the medium term (within 3 years) and with modest resource requirements
USC ZRP Priority Areas
USC ZRC invites its member HEIs to submit a research proposal for Grant-in-Aid (GIA) funding along these priority thrusts:
- Poverty Alleviation and Reduction of Income Inequality
- Addressing Urban-Industrial Spatial Imbalances
- Promoting a Globally-Competitive Service Sector in Central Visayas
USC ZRP Activities
In support of the USC Zonal Research Program, four broad activities are undertaken.
- Establishment and Maintenance of a Zonal Research Database. The Database includes information of the research outputs (theses, dissertations and institutional researches), research manpower and research linkages of USC ZRC Member HEIs, among others.
- Research Capability Building. The activities include workshops on Research Proposal Preparation, Secondary Data Analysis and Technical Writing.
- Research Utilization. These consist of newsletter publication, roadshow for completed researches including CHED Republica Winners and a search for the transfer of mature technologies to end users.
- Inter-Zonal Research Collaboration. Common activities are held; technical experts are shared; and Member HEIs from other ZRCs are tapped.
